I am an actor and writer from North Manchester. It’s an area that sadly has offered few opportunities for people wanting to work in the arts, despite having a mine of talent there. It was a challenging place to grow up at times, me and my sister being two of the few mixed race children around, but we made it work. I feel proud to be making a living from a career that can sometimes feel so exclusive, and I feel passionate about encouraging other people from working class backgrounds into the industry. As an actor I’ve been fortunate enough to have a really varied career so far. It’s included playing regulars in soaps, to being part of the cast and crew of the show that re opened the National Theatre after the pandemic. I feel grateful for every job and I never stop learning each time I do something new.
I feel excited to explore my journey as a writer with the support of Thick Skin. I am a huge admirer of their work, having collaborated with them as an actor on a couple of developing projects. I think they bring something very special to the North West. My first full length play, ‘FULL’ is set in a dystopian future and is an investigation into mixed race identity.
