Lauren Townsend is a Yorkshire-based emerging creative producer working in theatre, live events, film and community arts. A commitment to engaging all communities in the arts and increasing diversity in the creative workforce is at the core of her practice and she is keenly interested in establishing cross-collaboration between mediums and artforms. Alongside a freelance career Lauren is currently the Producer at the Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield where she currently leads on delivery of their digital programme LBTV which was established to deliver creative content to the public during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Prior to this she was Interim Assistant Producer at Sheffield Theatres where she assisted on the planning and production of their in-house and visiting programme: including sell-out new musical Standing At The Sky’s Edge (written by Chris Bush, with music by Richard Hawley); and the world premiere theatrical adaptation of Life of Pi (adapted by Lolita Chakrabarti).Lauren is currently a member of Stage Sight, an initiative which works to increase diversity in technical theatre roles. Here she works with organisations such as National Theatre, The Young Vic, Sheffield Theatres, Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, BECTU, and the Royal Opera House along with independent creatives, to promote change within the theatre industry.
