Creative learning
ThickSkin’s creative learning programme is designed to empower young people as the next generation of artists. Our activities take place in communities, schools, colleges and through digital initiatives. Through creative tasks, we share our expertise in collaborative theatre making, physical devising and use of technology, providing the tools to reimagine what theatre can be.
DIGITAL LEARNING RESOURCES
We have launched ThickSkin On Demand! A brand new channel jam packed with FREE learning resources, aimed at drama and performing arts students at GCSE / Nationals upwards with curriculum links, allowing students to develop a knowledge and understanding of theatre making processes.
As well as behind the scenes footage, interviews with artists and creative tasks inspired by our shows, you can stream some of our full-length productions – Current shows available – How Not To Drown, Petrichor and Peak Stuff with Driftwood coming soon.

DEVISING PHYSICAL THEATRE WORKSHOP
Designed by our Artistic Director, Neil Bettles (How Not To Drown, The Unreturning, Disney’s Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Private Peaceful), our workshops explore more of ThickSkin’s physical, visual, and digitally driven approach to making theatre.
Devising Physical Theatre workshop is a two-hour session delivered in your setting and led by ThickSkin’s Associate Artists. These workshops are suitable for young people aged 14+ and have strong links to GSCE, A Level, National and Higher’s learning objectives, encouraging students to create and develop ideas to communicate meaning for theatrical performance. These workshops are designed to inspire students to develop their own material and become confident with physical devising.
Workshops are movement based, guiding participants through some of the creative processes used by the company to devise work. A fun, active and collaborative session in a creative and supportive environment.

ZOOM Q&A’S
Studying ThickSkin in your classroom and want to learn more from our creatives? We can provide Q&A’s on Zoom with members of our company. These are a useful way for students who are studying our productions to revisit themes and ask questions about the process, encouraging students to analyse the work of others, and in turn, their own work.

CO-CREATION AND RESIDENCIES
We also respond to commissions to co-create work with young people, recent partners include Imperial War Museum North, Stage Directions Salford and Pendleton College.
Please get in touch if you’d like to talk about something a little more bespoke for your school or group: [email protected].
